A simple easy golf swing – Isn’t that what we all want ? A consistent , reliable golf swing that you can count on from the very first tee?  Then you hit your shot and it goes off left or right , why do we hook and slice so many shots ?

Slicing is when the flight of the ball starts to the left of the target and finishes a long way right.  The main cause of this is having too much body action and not enough hands, this results in the club head being open on impact. Whereas a hook , where you move the ball right to left is exactly the opposite.

The driver is the longest club in your bag and is therefore much harder to hit straight .  It is normal for golfers to get on the tee and want to hit the golf ball as far as they possibly can, but you need to mentally accept one truth – you can hit the ball further and far more accurately if you do not try to hit the ball hard .

There are 3 major areas to fix golf slice that you need to correct to ensure your shots are straight every shot .

1. Your Stance
You may not have the perfect golf stance , but you can compensate by staying balanced and relaxed. Your weight should be equally distributed between your left and right leg. If you are able to raise either of your feet off the ground, you are not in balance . Make sure your ball is teed just inside your front foot .

2. Your Alignment
It does not matter how great your golf swing is – if you hit it in the wrong direction you will obviously be in trouble . The majority of golfers realize  that not only must they line up the club face at address they must line up their feet along the target line.

But another thing that even some experienced players forget is that although their feet are correctly aligned , they should also make sure that their shoulders are correctly aligned . You can do this by holding a club along your chest and aiming it down the correct parallel aim line . When the whole body is aimed and aligned correctly, it makes a simple, none compensating golf swing so much easier to achieve.

3. Your Grip
It is very easy when trying to go for more distance to grip the club too tightly. This right away creates tension throughout your body – at best slowing muscles and reducing club head speed, at worst causing you to snatch the club back and to take your swing out of the ideal swing plane. Both will result in your ball going off line . You must make a conscious attempt to grip the club lightly .

Get these three areas right and your club head will return square on impact and you will be hitting straight shot sconsistently , no more golf swing slice.
