How To Pitch Shot From Anywhere

Hitting the perfect pitch shot is determined by how the ball lies. You don’t have to change anything about your position most of the time. You just have to play the ball the way it lies. So starting time you need your “check test.”

Before any pitch shot, you want to do a check test. this means you want to examine where your ball lies. There are 3 ways your ball will most likely lie The first scenario is if the ball is sittting in an upward position. This means it’s above or standing on the grass.  The second way is if the ball is sitting in a slight rough. And third way is if the ball sitting in a deep rough. Lets look at how we can hit a perfect crisp pitch shot in these scenarios .

When the ball is sitting up- This means the ball is resting above the grass. When pitching from the fairway, you want to keep your stance the same, and arrange the ball in the center of your feet. Here your swing will bottom out with the spot of your ball. This is the best way to hit your pitch shots because there is no interference from grass.

When the ball is sitting reasonably down in the rough- This is when the ball is not all the way deep in the grass and not even half way deep, but about 3/4′s deep.  In this case, you will position the ball to the center of your back foot.  Set your hands in front of your zipper, and lean your shaft towards your target.  You want a good solid hit on the ball, not the turf.

When the ball is in a deep rough- This means half or just about all of your ball is in deep grass. Place the ball toward your front foot. Play the ball where your swing bottoms out, and keep your hands in front of your zipper. This will make your shaft lean away from the target The loft of your club is doing the most work, and gives you a large clubface.
