The US Open Gambling Competition Wild Card is Woods
Although he’s only played 4 golf wagering competitions in the last seven months, Tiger is still dominating the gambling odds conversation heading into the 2010 US Open betting competition, demonstrating what a transformative figure in sports wagering he is.
Woods’ play in the few competitions he’s played in has been irregular and tough for golf gambling handicappers to get a handle on since returning from his self-imposed exile from the PGA betting event. Occasionally he’s looked awful, sometimes he’s looked outstanding. But Tiger remains Tiger and it will be quite difficult to bet vs him, particularly in the US Open gambling.
After all, this year’s US Open odds event will occur at Pebble Beach, an ideal spot for the US Open betting action; if the PGA were to pick a permanent home for the US Open betting event, it will be right here.
And Tiger Woods was the victor the last time that the US Open odds event played out at this idyllic golf course. However he did not only win the event, he owned it, breaking almost every US Open wagering record along the way and essentially announcing himself as the greatest player on the planet. Ever since then, he’s dominated golf wagering around the community.
Clearly this course is a wonderful place full of special memories for Woods and he’ll be looking to use the past accomplishment to fuel him to present day accomplishment in this year’s US Open betting action.
But he’ll have plenty of competition. His old nemesis Phil Mickelson is chief contender number 1 in the golf gambling event. Lefty already has one Major championship under his belt so far this year and would love to add another. Despite what the world rankings could say, Phil has been the best and most consistent golfer on earth over the last six months, as Tiger has been more or less missing from golf gambling.
A superb barometer for Woods potential success in the US Open odds event is observing him play in the Memorial. All the largest names in golf gambling will be present and sports wagering lovers will see how he holds up vs a talented lineup and also how his healing from a neck injury is coming along.
If he holds his own or even wins at the Memorial, we’ll know that Woods is definitely the favorite in the US Open gambling action.
Woods has won the US Open 3 times and has the record for being the most strokes under par. Mickelson has never won the US Open. However, he is rated number two globally just under Woods, and Woods has had a tough past several months. Woods might not be as on top of his game as he may have been lacking his neck injury and marital troubles and the media scandal that went with them. At the very least the neck injury might be healing.
“I’m good enough to play, definitely,” Woods said. “The swelling has gone down. I’ve got range of motion. I’m just a little bit sore at the end of the day after good practice sessions. But I’ve been able to recover for the next day, which I wasn’t able to do prior to this. That’s a good sign.”
This year’s US Open Golf championship will be played from June 17-20.
